Reynolds Geo-Sciences Ltd (RGSL), based in Mold, north east Wales, was awarded the title of Small Business Champion 2003 for Wales on Wednesday 1st October, at the award ceremony for the region held at the Celtic Manor Golf Club, Newport.
Having won in Newport, the Company attended the national finals of the competition at a very prestigious ceremony at Claridges Hotel, London, on 14th November. The evening was hosted by Fiona Armstrong and the main speech was by Gary Herbert, Olympic medal winning cox, barrister and motivational coach.
The Company was featured on a special display at reception and was the focus of considerable media attention.

Dr John Reynolds, Managing Director of Reynolds Geo-Sciences Ltd, was presented with the Welsh Champion's trophy by five-times Olympic gold medallist Sir Steve Redgrave. Dr Reynolds stated that he was absolutely delighted at winning the Welsh national competition and that it was a real accolade for all his staff. He also said that he was pleased to have highlighted North Wales and also Mold.
The British Small Business Champions Award (BSBC), were set up in March 2002 when the Federation of Small Businesses, Lloyds TSB Bank Plc, Mirror Group Newspapers and Business in the Community teamed up to recognise that small businesses play a key role in Britain’s economic strength. They felt that it was about time that the efforts of so many enterprising people who helped in raising national prosperity received more recognition.
